Paper formats at Orlando shops

Organized play is a shop calendar plus a publisher's format rules. This guide names paper formats from the publishers. Start times, prize splits, and table counts live on the shop page this list cites.

Read How to read a game-shop directory first if you are still sorting FLGS vs singles vs comic shop. Paper formats are not gear. A constructed Magic or Pokemon deck is a sleeve question. A D&D table is a dice question. See dice vs sleeves.

Magic: The Gathering (paper)

Wizards of the Coast publishes formats on magic.wizards.com/en/formats. Those rules cover player count, deck size, and which cards you may use. That hub's "most popular" paper-facing formats, as posted there:

Commander. 100-card decks, 3 to 5 players, about 120 minutes. Wizards' Commander page says you choose a legendary creature or artifact as commander and build 99 cards plus that commander, one of each card except basic lands. Cite: Commander format.
Standard. 60-or-more-card decks, 2 players, about 20 minutes, using the latest sets. Cite: the same formats hub.
Booster Draft. 40-or-more-card decks built from packs opened at the table, 2 to 8 players. Cite: the formats hub.

The hub also lists Pioneer, Modern, Sealed Deck, Legacy, Vintage, and others. Pioneer is a non-rotating constructed format with a 60-card minimum. Cite: Pioneer format.

Worked example: a shop that names Magic play, not a time. CoolStuffGames Maitland posts organized play including Magic on coolstuffgames.com/maitland. Layton Gaming posts in-store play for Magic: The Gathering on laytongaming.com. Those sentences support "this shop names Magic play." They do not support "Standard at 7 p.m."

Pokemon TCG

Play! Pokemon is the official organized-play program. Pokemon's about page describes local events at game stores (League Challenge, League Cup) and larger Championship Series events. Cite: Play! Pokemon program.

Play! Pokemon's rules hub says Standard is the most popular constructed format and that older cards rotate out of Standard by regulation mark each Championship Series season. Expanded is a larger constructed pool. Cite: Competitive Pokemon Rules and Formats. The Play! Pokemon glossary defines Standard and Expanded as tournament formats with published deck-construction limits, and Pokemon Organized Play as the body for official leagues and tournaments. Cite: Play! Worked example. Numiru posts Pokemon sealed product on numiru.com. Game Time Cardz posts Pokemon and other TCGs on gametimecardz.com. CoolStuffGames Maitland and South Orlando name Pokemon organized play on their store pages. Sealed product on a home page is not a League Challenge listing.

Disney Lorcana

Ravensburger's play hub asks players to find organized play (Weekly Play, Prereleases, Set Championships) and points retailers at the Ravensburger Play Hub. Cite: Disney Lorcana play.

The same publisher lists paper formats on Ways to Play:

Core Constructed. A deck you build in advance, following rotation and the banned list.
Infinity Constructed. A built deck with no rotation.
Pack Rush. Two booster packs per player. Race to 15 lore.
Booster Draft. Four packs, 40-card decks.
Sealed Deck. Six packs, 40-card decks.

Worked example. CoolStuffGames Maitland names Lorcana among organized play on its store page. The Haven Games lists Lorcana among card-game events on thehaventabletop.com. Flashpoint names Lorcana on its games page. Naming the game is not a Set Championship date.

What stays on the shop page

A start time, entry fee, or prize that is not on the cited shop page.
A claim that a shop "always" runs a format because the publisher defines it.
Arena-only or digital-only formats as if they were the paper night (Alchemy, Historic, and Timeless appear on Wizards' formats hub. This guide is paper-first).
